Changes Support for Mental Wellbeing

Changes has 2 meetings at the Greenway Centre. We meet on Tuesday afternoons from 1 - 3pm and Thursday Evenings 7.15pm - 9.15pm Please come 5 minutes early for a prompt start. We welcome adults (anyone over the age of 18) suffering from a range of problems such as depression, stress, anxiety, bipolar disorder, social anxiety, personality disorders, self-harming, low self-esteem, mood swings or loneliness, to name just a few. If you are suffering from any form of mental distress, and are able to converse with people, you are welcome to attend our meetings. Nobody needs to speak until they are ready but everyone will be given the opportunity if they want to talk over their challenges and the group members can offer their advice and support based on what they know works for them. All our meetings are run by trained volunteers who have their own experience of mental distress. The meetings have a structure that the volunteers will help the group to stick to but they are also quite informal and friendly. There's plenty of time to get to know the other members over a cup of tea and once you join the Changes community you'll be able to access social events that the members organise themselves. You do not require a referral from your GP or an assessment. You don't need to book a space - you can just turn up on the day and you will be made very welcome by the volunteers and the other group members. Feel free to call us at the office if you would like to speak to a friendly voice before coming along. Our phone number is 0117 941 1123 and email [email protected] Our service is not an alternative to other treatments but is there to complement many of the other services provided by statutory bodies. You can come to Changes meetings for as many meetings as you like and they are free, although we do have a donations pot at each group if you'd like to drop in a small contribution.
