Community Champion Volunteers

Avon Fire & Rescue Service is looking for volunteers to become Community Champion Volunteers.These volunteers will be asked to spend around eight hours a month talking to local groups about the benefits of Home Fire Safety Visits and encouraging people to sign up.The names they take will be passed to AF&RS and fire fights will visit people in their homes to discuss home and fire safety issues specific to their property. They will also fit free smoke alarms where needed.The volunteers will be providing a valuable service to local people by helping to increase fire safety awareness and prevent accidental fires.AF&RS Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Mick Dixon, said: “We are keen to spread the fire safety message across our local communities and have developed the Community Champion Volunteer scheme as a way to ensure we can reach those most in need.Community Champion Volunteers have an important role to play in preventing fires and potentially saving lives.”Community Champion Volunteers will gain new skills, meet a wide range of people and make a postive contribution to people’s safety.If you feel confident talking to groups of people and would be happy to plan and carry out visits to local groups and events to promote Home Fire Safety checks, get in touch with the team.No qualifications or previous experience are needed and full training and support will be given to all volunteers.For more information, an application pack and induction training days please contact the Volunteer Support Team at The Care Forum on 0117 958 9308 or email [email protected].
