About the Mead

The idea for the website came from the Southmead Community Plan (also a separate tab on the home page) as residents wanted better communications.  The Plan is divided into 9 chapters and the action group for the Communications Chapter took the idea forward.  The Southmead Development Trust, as a Community Plan partner, sought for, applied for, and won, small amounts of funding for the community to pay for website construction (funded by Wellbeing), as well as a worker to input initial content (funded by Southmead Fourteen).  The Mead Group is currently seeking funds to further develop the functions of the website.

The content on the website now generates a printed What's On Southmead guide, distributed around the Community, and also an App available on both Apple and Android.  Please contact us with any feedback about the guides, which support The Mead printed newspaper.  Any news items posted on this site may be shared with the community social media pages, TheMeadBS10, and also may be selected by The Mead printed newspaper editors to be included in the next issue.

Please help to create and maintain these fantastic community resources by listing everything available and relevant to Southmead residents.  Do post a news item/announcement.

Please get in touch with us, via the Contact page, with any questions or suggestions.  However, if you are already frustrated due to a technical issue, please leave a message at 07783 330 725 and we will call you back as soon as humanly possible.

With thanks, The Mead team (up-dated January 2017)

The Mead website was funded with thanks to community grants from Neighbourhood Partnerships Wellbeing and Southmead Fourteen funds.
