We want Southmead to be known as a great place for everyone to live. A strong community where residents work together, inspire each other and people of all ages have the skills and confidence to achieve their full potential.
Southmead Development Trust exists to serve the community of Southmead and primarily does this by running the Southmead Youth Centre and a large centre called The Greenway Centre. The centre shares the site with a GP surgery and we see ourselves as a healthy living centre, social enterprise hub and community centre. We have a board of trustees who either live or work locally. Recently, the Trust was involved with the Southmead Community Plan, an initiative by residents and community stakeholders to benefit Southmead. We hope this plan will increase the likelihood of the estate receiving financial investment and positively influence decisions that will have an impact on Southmead.
Southmead Project is a registered charity providing free therapeutic and practical support to adults who were abused as children and have turned to drugs, alcohol and other ways of self-harming as a consequence of that trauma.

Tai Chi is good for you. An ancient Chinese mind-body art which can help many health conditions - plus raises energy levels and lowers stress. In the words of one person "I’ve been going for 3 years and enjoyed every class. Refreshed and invigorated, I go home with a spring in my step. Thoroughly recommended!”
Friendly classes with an experienced and enthusiastic teacher. Come and try it for yourself.
We are a volunteer organization with locations across the country. We bring together people of different languages and cultures in a community focused on furthering the aims and objectives established by our founder, Master Moy Lin Shin.
At every location, people from all ages, backgrounds and walks of life learn, train and practice together. They have diverse reasons and motivations for their involvement, ranging from a simple enjoyment of the Taoist Tai Chi® practice, to an interest in the health benefits, to the rewards of participation in a friendly and supportive community, to the pursuit of a spiritual path whose roots reach back to ancient times. All are welcome and encouraged to participate as they choose.
The values that lie at the heart of our organization reflect the Taoist tradition. Volunteering and helping others are part of this path. Participants are encouraged to volunteer when they can. This may mean making tea, sweeping the floor, instructing, participating in a ceremony, chanting, cooking, fundraising, or contributing in any number of ways.
We run Beginners Courses and ongoing classes throughout the year at 7pm Badock’s Wood School BS10 5PY. All are welcome - just turn up!
